As Salam u Alaikum, Dear Mubashir, This is a long due email to thank you for providing such an informative website, especially your travelogues that helped me a lot. I wish I had stumbled upon them earlier before coming over to Saudi Arabia. That would have made my life much easier because if one knows what to expect than it is much easier to bear with it and one of the virtues that these people try their best to instill in anyone trying to come over to Saudi Arabia is patience :-) Anyway, I am new to KSA (I guess I should not say that because I have been here for the last 6months and more than half my tenure is already gone!) and during the Eid-al-Fitr holidays wanted to visit the Haramain Sharifan as well as the Islamic historical sites with my family so that it would be much easier for my kids to learn and remember the Islamic history and more importantly about the life of the best man that ever walked on the face of earth, Prophet Muhammad SAW. I was wondering where to get help from. As you have rightly mentioned that the 'Desi' people are just not fond of travel and adventure and it is very difficult to talk to Saudis if one does not know Arabic. So I was stuck to whatever information I could get on my own, primarily from the Internet. While browsing the web for Arabic language I ended up at your wonderful site and the Arabic language learning contents that you have developed. Fortunately I was able to discover your travelogues and the "Quran aur Bible kay Dais Main" was a treasure found and my travel planning became much easier. I printed part one of it and took it along with me (That was a nice decision as I used it as a guide all along whenever I thought I was lost :-) ). For one week after Eid my family and I had a wonderful time in and around Makkah and Madina. Thanks to you we could visit some other places as well including Badar, Hada, Taif, and Shifa. Since this was a last minute discovery I could not see all the pictures that included the map of Masjid-e-Adaas as well. I was wondering how could you miss putting a map of it while you have taken pains to describe the actual correct place. On our return I found the map among the pictures that I wished I had. But never the less we could visit the "other" purported Masjid-e-Adaas as described in the encyclopedia and we discussed the event and what we could learn from it, which I think was crux of the visit. I think that was good for the time being and perhaps I can visit the 'original' one in some future visits, Insha'Allah. Also, we could not visit Abwa as it was late at night when we reached the exit 974 and I decided not to go for the adventure for the time being ... Anyhow, this email is to appreciate your efforts ... Hopefully I shall be visiting Madain Salah, Khyber and the other places in winters, Insha'Allah... In this regard if you could provide some more information about the exact department and their contact information from whom one needs to take permission to visit Madain Salah, it shall be highly appreciated ... BTW taking additional aspiration from your Hajj experience I am planning to go for Hajj this time and with my family i.e. wife and kids, Insha'Allah, and on my own i.e. with our any tour operator ... Any new thoughts on this from you or additional insights would be highly appreciated. I am a teacher from the IBA, Karachi, Pakistan and currently on a one year assignment as a researcher at the Center of Excellence in Information Assurance (CoEIA), King Saud University, Riyadh. I'll try to add the map of all the points that are mostly unknown. For permission of Madain Saleh, it is simple. Just search Arak Hotel / Madain Saleh Hotel and Al-O'laa. Get their numbers and reserve room for you. They'll arrange the permission. You've to fax your Iqama. Whenever you decide to go, let me know for further advice. Salam again Dear i m grateful 2 u for ur prompt and satisfactory reply. I have gone through ur safarnama today and i found it very interesting, effective, informative and appealing. Most of the information u provided are really new to me especially the the historical perspective of the holy places. Further, the support of pictures makes it very reader-friendly. As far as ur articles are concerned, they have the same appreciation as i mentioned above. On the negative aspect, I have a minor observation. Sometimes I feel lack of flow in ur articles as u maintained in ur safarnama. Let me clarify what I mean by the word "flow". Ur safarnama appears to be spontaneous as u maintain the originality and u try not to indulge in visualizing ur reader. On the oter hand, ur articles appear to be a very serious talk and probably the reason is that u attempt to keep the reader in ur mind. However, this is my observation which may be wrong. Further, I feel I m junior to u in writing skills and I am attempting to say beyond my status. I need the same harsh criticism from ur side and guidelines so that I can improve myself in writing skills. I am also forwarding u my self-developed questionnaire which I prepared with the help Rehan and Mufti Tahir Abdullah. Aoa, Hope u r good. I have read about 40 pages of the safarnama. It is maiden reading of any of your Urdu pieces of writing and I m enjoying going through. Your style is simple yet thought provoking, reader friendly, engages reader & punctuated with self-dialogue-type writing. Your “preaching” mentality has utilized / devised even safarnama. Emphasize Morality / character building is another prominent factor. You r rightly complainant of Muslims’ negligence / slumber but at the same time not hopeless.
