Brother Nazir Assalamu alikum, In surah Baqrah, in ayath 61 Allah swa talks about
killing of prophets, I would appreciate if you throw light on this and tell
us who were the prophets WHO WERE KILLED and if Allah is talking us about
prophet Isa (Jesus) aley salam then it is mentioned in Quran that he was
neither killed nor crucified but taken onto HIM ie.ALLAH. jazakallah. Mrs Mohsin July 2011 |

Respected Sister Wa alaikum us salam wa Rahmatullah The verse is not about Prophet Jesus علیہ
الصلوۃ
والسلام. There was a long chain of
prophets between Prophet Moses and Jesus علیہما
الصلوۃ
والسلام because it was the responsibility
of Israelites to establish a true Islamic society on the heart of the planet
so that any person around the globe can see a live example of Islam. The
example of Prophet Jesus علیہ الصلوۃ
والسلام could not be presented to Jews
because they do not recognize him as a true prophet. The Quran refers here to their own history which is
well known and well documented in the Bible. The latest example of the killed
prophets were Prophet Zakariya and Yahya (John the Baptist) علیہما
الصلوۃ
والسلام. Both of them are accepted as
"true prophets" by both Jews and Christians and their biographies
are mentioned in the last part of the Old Testament and initial part of the
New Testament. Jews recognized them as
true prophets but killed them despite of such recongnition. The story of
Prophet Yahya (John) علیہ الصلوۃ
والسلام is extremely painful who was
recognized as "the best person in the Jewish community" and was
killed merely on the desire of a dancer who was the stepdaughter of their
king Herod. The king wanted to marry her stepdaughter but was unable to do so
due to influence of Prophet John. There were many other examples in the mid
centuries of the Israelite empire when they killed their own prophets and the
Bible is full of these stories. wassalaam Mubashir |
