Sallam, I have received this email from one of my friends, Kindly find time to read and comment. JazakALLAH Khair Abdul Rauf Dec 2010 The author has claimed that since the Quran does not instruct sacrificing animals on Eid ul Adha other than Hajj, therefore, this practice should be stopped.
Wa alaikum us salam wa Rahmatullah I've read the article and strongly disagree with this on the following grounds: 1. It is an agreed-upon phenomenon that the source of Islamic teachings are two: (1) The Quran; and (2) The Sunnah of the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم. The author has completely ignored the second source. 2. Sacrificing animals on Eid ul Adha even other than Hajj is an established practice of the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم. Not a single Hadith, but a large number of Ahadith are reported about it. Look Kitaab-ul-Adhiya of all books of Ahadith. Such number reaches at the level of Tawatur which cannot be denied. 3. It is an agreed-upon practice of entire Ummah from its outset till now. wassalaam Mubashir
