Admitting
One’s Faults |

A young
player, who had participated in a big football match for the first time,
wrote to his father after his team has been defeated. Our opponents
discovered a great gap in our defense line, and that was me.
Such
acceptance of one’s shortcomings is rare, for it requires great courage.
Without it, we cannot make social progress. Since every defeat is attributable
to a gap in the line of defense, the best remedy is to accept it, for in so
doing, one is well on the way to solving the problem. The person, who accepts
his fault, either leaves his position for better people or tries to further
prepare him for success. The greatest
fact of the life is accepting one’s weakness. The faith is also an
acceptance. A faithful person accepts the magnificence of God. Paying the
people their due is also an acceptance because a person accepts
inter-personal responsibilities. Repentance is also an acceptance because a
person accepts that the Word of God is right and His forbidden acts are
wrong. All reforms in our life depend on acceptance of our faults. The man
always commits mistakes. Without acceptance, there is no way to improve our
weaknesses.
Accepting
one’s faults is the door to success. Unfortunately, people feel it difficult
to accept their mistakes. They make it an ego-problem. They try to hide their
mistakes instead of admitting them. Consequently, a small fault becomes a
blunder. The situation reaches at the point where the person has to admit his
fault at the cost of failure. It was possible to protect oneself from failure
by simply accepting the mistake at an earlier stage but now that time had
gone. (Author: Waheed-ud-Din Khan,
Translation: Dr. Farida Khanam & Mubashir Nazir)
Think about it! · Why people do not
accept their mistakes? · Identify an event from
your life when you did not admit your mistake and suffered a greater loss as
a consequence. Please send your answers through
email to post your comments on this web page. |
